  • When to wax a new car

Sorry for the dumb question but I need to verify something before I do something bad. Is it ok to clay, wax a brand new car? I remember the old days when they always said don't wax a new care until the paint cures but, with today's technology the paint coming out of the factory is already cured enough to wax? I want to give my vehicle a wax job with some ultimate this weekend.

I've read on here that the paint comes out cured from factory so you can wax it right after delivery.

Oh yeah, clay it first. Coming out of the factory the paint is baked and cured. Then it may ride in a rail car gathering "rail dust". Followed by a ride on a semi, gathering more bonded contaminates. Finally it sits in the dealer's lot gathering more bonded contaminates and quite possibly get some dealer instilled swirls when they run it through their spinning brush car war. Take your time hand washing it, clay it with adequate lubricant and then two coats, just to insure coverage, of Ultimate Wax. With each coat a good 12 hours apart.

Stop back if you have additional questions. Good luck and enjoy your new car.
