  • Only ever used Next Gen wax. What now.

    Hi.

Had my car since near new and had it over 5 years. Finish is awesome with only very light and i mean light swirling and in some spots theres none.

I wax nearly every 6 weeks and only ever wash with next gen car wash.

Ive read articles now on swirl/scratch x, polish and wax and i am going to do this so i can clean the wax residue off and get a nice deep shine.

So what i plan is, wash, scratch x, polish with deep crystal and then wax with either next get or canuba ( excuse spelling) as i am running out of next gen.

Am i on the right track?

    Thanks.

    I would suggest this process:
    1. Wash
    2. Clay (if needed)
    3. Clean paint (Ultimate Compound if you have swirling - this will be a good substitute to scratchX)
    4. Polish (Ultimate Polish - good substitute to Deep Crystal Polish)
    5. Wax with your favorite wax

Id already bought the stuff and washed the car before i got your reply and as they are digging up my street, well i wasn't going out again. Lol

anyway, the swirl x did little so i went for the scratch x using a rotary buffer with a soft foam pad. Oh my god. Swirls gone. There are still a few deeper scratches but few. The finish i thought on the car was already good, but after the polish then the nxt wax, WOW. I cant shut the boot/trunk as my hand slips off the panel. Lol. It is amazing.

So next question is, how do i tackle the slightly deeper scratches?

But overall, i am truly amazed.

Feel along the edge of the deeper scratch with first a fingertip and then your fingernail. If you feel an indention with the fingernail, it is not likely you will be able to do anything with it. That being said, however, IF Scratch-X did not get it, an application of 105 on just the affected area is the next thing to try.

I havent tackled the larger scratches yet although there arent many and they have visibily diminished. I did toss up about claying but then watched a you ube video from meuiars on claying and th sound versus silent test. My car is garaged 90% of the time and most of the car did not need ti, but the bonnet, although shiny was rough.

So I got a clay kit and I am simply amazed at the result. The bonnet (or hood as you guys call it) is amazing. The whole car is smooth as.

Now to move onto my daughters '94 Mazda.
