  • Is it Swirl X, Alex?

As the proud and lucky owner of a black '13 Subaru Impreza, I think after lots of research I have found the right answer. I just want to run it by a more experienced group of professionals.
I'm luckily not looking for repair after a good wash gone bad. I went through that with a 07 Honda Ridgeline.
What I want to do is preemptive in nature. I've only had this car a couple of months. No car wash damage, serious swirls or scratches and I want to keep it that way.

After about two hours reading, researching and looking at different products I came up with Swirl X. It seems to be the exact product I'm looking for to eliminate the mild swirl marks that afflict every black car.
I went through all the numbers and the ultimate this and that and Swirl X seems to be something I can apply by hand and then work it till I get the desired results. I'm seriously hoping for a fairly mild pure polish that will really make a good finish pop into a great one.
All suggestions appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

As a follow up, can I apply wax over it? Further reading says Swirl X contains "oils."

SwirlX may well do the job but it's fairly mild and may not have enough cut, especially if you're working by hand.

It's a matter of doing a test spot with different products and see which products give the desired results. Personally, I think you'll have to step it up to UC if working by hand, but won't know until you try.

Yes, you can apply a Meguiars wax directly over either SwirlX or UC.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Many thanks for the reply. I will try both products.

You can also apply a pure polish (M07 show car glaze or deep crystal) or Ultimate Polish (polish with mild cleaners) to add even more depth to your black paint.

Or as an alternative, apply black wax after SwirlX, finish off with Ultimate Wax.
