Should I charge extra for this? Are there any tools or secrets to getting pet hair out? I spent a good hour and a half on my 3rd detail just vacuuming white dog hair on black interior. Thank you.

    Re: Pet hair removal

Man I hate pet hair. I'm not pro on removal for sure. I've only had one. I know they make brushes just for pet hair removal. I've never tried them but thought about getting one to have on hand. Last time I used a small and big nylon brush. I know there is something better. Hopefully someone else will chime in. As far as an extra charge, I've always just included it in my interior package. But maybe a $10 upcharge for removal??

Oh and I had white dog hair in a BMW dark grey interior. Check the pic below. STOP the insanity people! lol Sorry for the OCD on the photos, not trying to hack your thread, lol

      Re: Pet hair removal

I wouldn't charge anything extra for the pet hair removal. I would for the time. So if its just a little bit of hair I probably wouldn't charge but if there was a lot of hair I would tell the customer that I need to charge maybe an extra 5.00 because of the labor to remove it. I have a Bissell garage pro vacuum and it came with a turbo brush attachment and I thought it was dumb at first but that thing works great at removing pet hair. I use it to get all the hair I can then I use my hand to move around the hair and then vacuum again with the turbo brush. Obviously you should wear gloves when you do this and the gloves help pull the hair up. Here is a picture of the turbo brush.

I forgot to add that I have 2 large german shepherds and they shed like crazy. I always have them in the SUV and thats how I know the turbo brush works great. I also heard about this thing called a pet hair rock. I guess its like a lava rock type texture. You should check that out.

good timing on asking this question.
Tomorrow I'm finishing up a "dog Lady's" Dog Taxi.
For the past 3 years she's been transporting dog in a Mazda 5, a mini, mini van thing.
I'll show you how to remove 3" of dog hair!
right now I've had my Ozone Generator in it since yesterday. The smell is the hardest thing to remove.

                  Re: Pet hair removal

I just detailed the inside of a newer Silverado yesterday that had a ton of Chesapeak Bay retriever hair in it. Red hair in a black cloth interior is a pain in the butt to get out. I used a rubber bristled pet hair brush from Meijer. Cost about $6 and was a life save. Between that, a vacuum and some duct tale worked really great.

Those are some gnarly pictures. Thanks for the tips, I will be trying all of the above next time because that was brutal.

                        Re: Pet hair removal

Hair does require more time to remove. I use a "pet rock" on the normal hair and that works fine. I just got the rubber brush, just for that Mazda and it works, not as well as the rock but it does have it's place in my arsenal of tools.
I always ask "does the car have any hair, sand or glitter. Those are the three things that require more time to remove and time is money.
I don't charge more parse, I just charge full price and defiantly no discounts if they have any of those three.

I have a cordless vac that has an attachment that is used for let hair removal. It works pretty good. I sometimes have to use it for human hair. Specially when it digs into the carpet.

I love the Dyson DC39, but with the amount of dogs I have, the tubes, filters, and all parts of the vacuum get dirty and are unusable after a year or so. I go through a lot of vacuums. For hard floors, I use the DC39. It works really good at picking up dog hair after I use a broom.
