  • Problem With Single Stage Paint

Hi All. What a great and informative site you have here.

I'm wondering if someone can tell me what the problem is with my paint and if there is any product i can use to fix it.

I had the car resprayed about 6 months back in single stage acrylic with no clear coat. When i was washing it the other day I noticed two patches on the roof where it looks like the paint is either cracking or heavily scratched. I don't know if it was caused by the buffing (the painter was very aggresive with the buffing, which has left the car with heavy swirls), or if its an issue with the bodywork or paint itself.

Main question is if it can be fixed with any product

One picture is a close up of the other. It looks like orange peel, but it's not. It's where the cloud is reflecting. The rest of the roof reflects like glass

It does look like heavy orange peel in the pics.

Was it like that when you got the car back from the spray painter, or has it become like that?

I'd say it's either poor prep or technique, but perhaps someone else can chime in..

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Thanks Davey. I don't remember seeing it before, though i have seen smaller cases of it on other parts of the car from when I got it back (nowhere near as heavy as this). I only noticed it when drying the roof and the cloud just happened to cover the sun and I saw the dullness.

This might sound dumb, but it looks like small cuts in the paint. I'm hoping its not crows feet

            any more pics?
it's hard to tell exactly what's going on here.
From these pics it's looks really bad and a failure of some sort.
I would take it back for sure.
Something isn't right here, especialy for a new paint job.

Looks to me that the area has to much paint on it over time . Combination of paint , orange peel , and crows feet from to much paint . Need to strip to bare metal and use a base coat clear coat system .
