  • Using Meguiars Deep Polish with Griots products?

I bought the Meguiars Deep Shine Polish and 3M Imperial Polish for getting a show room like shine.

I have a random orbital and some of their other cleaning products.

My question is, since these polishes go on before you use a wax or paint sealant, will either of these products conflict with Griots One Step Paint Sealant or similar waxing product?

I wasn't sure if the makeup of the polishes would be bad to mix with any of the Griots products.

    Thank you!

Some companies dont want any polishing oils, etc on the surface before waxing, and the instructions say to remove oils. But I believe Griots is ok with oils.

The only real issue would be the One Step Wax, which sounds like a cleaner/wax to me. Not much point in polishing before a cleaner/wax, if it is one.

The one step contains no wax. It's a paint sealer. I hope that help.

In addition, is the Meguiars deep polish an aggressive polish? I'm new to detailing and learned that polishing compound is for slightly removing the paint and imperfections. So, I didn't want to over do it since the Griots One Step Paint Sealant has polish and sealer in one.

Same thing... you can call it a cleaner/sealant if you want to be exact.

The DC Polish is only oils. So it is completely mild, and will be removed by the one step product.

Re: Using Meguiars Deep Polish with Griots products?

I just got off work and I'm looking at the products I have.

Meguiars Ultimate Polish - Pre Waxing Glaze

3M Imperial Hand Glaz - Show Car Finish.

To me, it sounds like I can't use either of these products if I want to use Griots One Step Sealant? I suppose I could use them if I choose to go with the "Best of Show Wax" from Griots, IF I choose to start waxing and not sealing.

What can I use to achieve a really nice show room deep shine in combination with Griots?

Its not that you cant... its that you will just remove what you did, so a bit of a waste.. Waxing or sealing isnt really the issue, it is using the one step product that has cleaners in it.

If you are going to use a one step product, you really just want to Wash/Clay/1-step product.

If you want to use some more polishing oils, you would want to Wash/Clay/Clean-Polish, and then just a wax or sealant product.

I would imagine Griots makes a stand alone carnuaba and a stand alone synthetic product, whichever their names might be.

Re: Using Meguiars Deep Polish with Griots products?

I just checked Griots website. They do have a straight Paint Sealant. It's not a 1 step, so I think that means the machine polish is not included in the mixture. They have a carnuaba wax, but I was most interested in the other products they have. Here's the list.

Car Care for the Perfectionist! Polishes, waxes, cleaners, polishers, foaming systems, detailing supplies, and accessories. We make it, we guarantee it!

              Paint Sealant

Paint Sealant Is Synthetic Wax For Your Every Day Driver
If you don't have the time to wax your car 3 to 4 times a year, park your car outside without a cover, occasionally drive your car through car washes, and want maximum protection from acid rain, fallout and bird droppings, then this is the product to use. Plus, why pay your dealer $300 - $600 to seal your paint when you can do the same thing for $19.99? Paint Sealant provides all the protection you need, yet still provides a high gloss finish that you only have to apply once a year. It's easy to apply by hand or with our random orbital machine using our Red Foam Pads, and even easier to take off leaving no residue! It has tremendous fill capabilities to hide many swirl marks! Use it on boats, motorcycles and RVs for complete protection.

              One-Step Sealant, 16 Ounces

One-Step Sealant Is A Polish And Synthetic Wax In One
All the benefits of our ultra-durable Paint Sealant combined with a gentle polish to remove scratches, oxidation and swirl marks while leaving behind protection for your paint for up to one year. Think of it as Paint Sealant with Machine Polish 3 added for a true One-Step Sealant! The best way to apply it is with our Random Orbital and Orange Polish Pads. You'll achieve spectacular results, while you remove oxidation, scratches and swirls. Even when you use it by hand, the results are amazing. Color, depth and clarity plus long term protection in one easy step.

Does that sound like I can do wash/clay/clean/ultimate-polish/griots sealant?

Re: Using Meguiars Deep Polish with Griots products?

Yeah, the regular Paint Sealant would fit in there well.

The Ult. Polish is a mild cleaner/polish, so if just for dirt, or mild swirls by machine, can cover both there.

                  Thanks for the info!

What do you think about the 3M Product? It is a polish, so I can follow the same steps mentioned above and just use this instead of Meguairs.

Do you really have to clay every time? I feel like it's overkill. I'd like to wash my car once a week if I could, but I don't know if I want to include claying.

Look's like I know what I need to use now.

I think I should buy this Meguairs hook and loop polisher pad for my Random Orbital.

Oh, by the way. I bought Meguiars Gold Class Car Wash. That shouldn't harm any waxing or sealing products I use that may be from Griots?

Re: Using Meguiars Deep Polish with Griots products?

The 3M product sounds like the DC Polish, where it is oils only, not with any cleaning ability. But I have not used it to be sure.

No, claying 2-3 times a year usually, unless something lands all over the car at once. And just when cleaning/polishing/waxing after.

Yes, that soap would be fine.

Not sure what your polisher is.

Sounds good. I will experiment with Meguiars and 3M to see which brings out a better shine.

"Not sure what your polisher is."

Do you mean the equipment I use or the actual polish? I was given Griots Machine Polish #3 with the kit I purchased.

Machine Polish 3 (Very Mild Polish)

The Perfect Polishing Companion To Our Orbital And The Safest Way To Remove Surface Scratches
[COLOR=#333333][FONT=Arial]Our machine polishes are different. They are created specifically for a random orbital machine (unlike other polishes that are created for straight drive machines) where the friction and temperature on the paint is almost non-existent. Our polishing granules are engineered to break down under light pressure, getting finer and finer as you use the polish. Our unique chemistry also does away with 50% of the old solvents, allowing you to clean up with water! No other polish does that. They are designed to be safe and effective at removing swirl marks and scratches from all painted surfaces. Always start with our very mild polish, Machine Polish 3, and repeat as often as you want, until the scratch is gone. If you have severe oxidation or heavy scratches, drop down to Machine Polish 2, or our Machine Polish 1 if need be, then finish up with Machine Polish 3. Use ultra-fine Machine Polish 4 when you have nearly flawless paint and only have light swirls and toweling marks. (Like new cars that are delivered from the dealership.) It will eliminate those micro-fine toweling marks and swirls, especially in dark paints. I recommend having all four polishes on your shelf, so you can choose the perfect polish for the job. Follow up with our Paint Sealant, Carnauba Wax Stick, Premium Carnauba Paste Wax or Best of Show Wax
