  • Honda Mirror Mount

I have a 2009 Honda Odyssey, Silver (although the manufacturer calls it 'Slate Metallic Green' I see no green tint whatsoever).

I am looking for suggestions to clean or restore the side mirror mounts.

The main portion of the mount has turned gray and mottled in color.

I'm not even sure what this part is made from. Aluminum maybe?
I have tried NXT Tech Wax and Trim Detailer, but nothing improves the look. It is still this dull gray.

Anyone know what this part is made out of and how to give it some life?

    Regards,
    Richard

      Re: Honda Mirror Mount

I am referring to the portion inside the yellow lines. It seems to be some metal or alloy.

My regular Trim Dressings won't stick.

Maybe a gentle application of UP/SwirlX type things?

            ultimate black

Megs ultimate black trim restore. I've had cool success with it on that type of trim.

What they said. And also it looks Slate Metallic Green to me in the pictures more than silver.

                Re: Honda Mirror Mount

Thanks guys. Don't have a picture of it at the moment but a thick layer of Ultimate Protectant made a big improvement. Might have to do it several times to be satisfied. I wouldn't have thought of using a 'Trim' product on the metal support.

                  Re: Honda Mirror Mount

If it really is painted metal / aluminium, perhaps you should have followed Murr's advice and tried UP / SwirlX.

Everyone else is assuming it's plastic. It sure looks like plastic and those ususally are on most cars.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

I'm not assuming these are plastic. They are powder coated metal. Using a trim dressing on these is fine. Trim dressing will put oils into the PC, protect it and will last along time.
I do a lot of these vans and trim dressing works great.
