  • Not a professional with the buffer

The trailer I bought came with a Milwaukee 5540 polisher and a Meguiar's Porter Cable 7335 Orbit sander. My question is do I need to go out and buy a DA polisher to be safe?

The 7335 PC is the same tool as the original 7424 polisher, but sold with a 5" hook and loop backing plate for sanding rather than a polishing pad. It's a little down on power as compared to the newer 7224XP, (3.7 amps vs 4.5 amps), so stay with 5" to 5.5" pads and you should be fine.

The Milwaukee 5540 is a rotary polisher, the PC 7335 is a DA polisher probably around 10+ years old. Like Billy Jack mentioned, the PC is a little limited compared to some of the newer DA's on the market.

Thanks guys. Sounds like maybe I can get away with the Porter Cable for now. I used the Milwaukee to polish my Silverado with no issues, but I want to be 100% confident before I'm doing someone else's car.
