  • Question about Meguiar's #80???

Is Meguiar's #80 just a filler that when you just wash the car the swirls mark will reappear??

  • #2
it is actually an abrasive. its not as harsh as #83 and has more polishing properties to it. but no, when you wash the same swirls you removed will not come back.

You need an electric buffer to apply #80 like the Meguiars G-100. It removes swirls by polishing them out. If you don't have an electric buffer and don't want to buy one, try Scratch-X, it's for hand polishing the swirls out. May take 2-3 applications to get the same effect as #80 with a buffer.

If you just want to temporarily fill in some fine swirls, the NXT Tech Wax works great for that, specially after claying the car first. Gives that smooth mirror finish.

My brother asked the same question last Saturday. He is an accomplished antique auto and motorcycle restorer but has never been able to get the final results he wants.

After working on a 1931 Ford Model A he is repainting, he was amazed at the results we got with #80.

I will post a few pictures tonight.

        Zaino is a filler, #80 is a diminishing-abrasive polish.
