  • Spots/marks on front bumper

I purchased a 2009 Ford Focus last year and realized that there are small spots on the front bumper. It almost looks as if they are water spots or something that is splashed on the bumper. I have tried buffing them out using polishing compound by hand, but that really did not do anything. Any ideas on what this may be from and how to fix it?

Also, on the corner of the front bumper, there is another mark. It is similar, but more white in color and more extreme than the spots.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Are there any products I could potentially use to take care of this problem or at least make it better. I thought the polishing compound would have made some type of difference.

Looks like etching, Ultimate Compound is the strongest consumer compound from meguiars followed by scratchX2.0. Polishing compound is not sufficient, try Claying, then either ScratchX 2.0 if it doesn't make a difference, move up to Ultimate Compound. Apply either cleaner (not necessarily both) using first a microfiber towel, finish up usinga foam applicator. If the etching is worse, you may need to have it color sanded to even out the clear then follow it up with a rotary buffer. If you have no experience with it, you may need to go to a pro to have it corrected.

I tried the Ultimate Compound on the bumper. It helped on a lot of the etching and made it much less visible, but you can still see it up close and at certain angles. It also slightly helped the deeper marks on the side of the bumper. I"m going to try the Ultimate Compound again to see if that helps more.
