  • Product Recommendations?

Hello everyone! My name is Sabrina and I need a little advice. My boyfriend's birthday is coming up, and the man loves his truck... And Meguiar's. He said he has a ton of stuff he'd like to get at some point down the road. That's when a little light bulb went off in my head. I was like, oohh! I'll get him some Meguiar's! Problem is, I don't know what to get him lol the funniest thing about his truck is that he lives on a working dairy farm... And the truck is black. He obviously did not think that one through haha Any ideas on products would be greatly appreciated. It's an '08 Dodge Ram 2500. He puts it to work a lot, on the farm, hauling for his excavating company, and working for a drilling company, and he spends a lot of time keeping it looking nice. I'm not sure how many trucks you see on here, but here it is

What products does he already have?

A good basic kit might consist of:

Wash - Gold Class Car Wash
Clay - Smooth Surface Clay Kit
    Compound - Ultimate Compound
    Polish - Ultimate Polish
    Wax - Ultimate Wax

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I could ask his brother to snoop around the shop for me to find out (if he doesn't already know off-hand). I'm sure he would use just about anything though, regardless of whether he already had the product. He said something about the polisher you attach to a drill, but it would probably be a little pricey for me, as a full-time college student at OSU. I'm a little broke haha

shop amazon, Autogeek, auto detail solutions, detailing.com <--- My fav.
And look for package deals. Really anything you get Meguiar's will be awesome! If I didn't already own everything Meguiar's and my gf a gave me some for a B-day present would make me cry. lol.
Also check your local Auto Parts stores for nice gift packages. I have a nice coffee cup that came out a few years ago.

Here ya go. I did some searching for you. The Mike Phillips Starter kit might be the one, if he really wants to be a better detailer, but what do I know? lol I hope this helps

Your talking about the New DA Power System for your drill and it's inexpensive!!! so that might be the best thing. You'd be saving him hours compared to hand detailing and therefore more time with you!

Haha honestly, I'll probably end up helping wash, wax, etc, so we'd be spending that time together anyway. I've always joked that it's my truck, so he keeps telling me to wash it. Plus I always yell at him when she's dirty I doubt he'd cry, but it would make me smile if he did! He's a tough guy... I just want to make him happy Does the DA Power System work well? Do you think he'd enjoy it?

                    Re: Product Recommendations?

Honestly, even if you don't need it for paint correction (or don't want to try and remove defects yourself), I'd recommend at some point the new DA Power system just to apply Polish and Wax... So much cheaper than investing in a Dual Action Polisher.. (it's not just the price of the unit itself, the pads are so much cheaper)

                      Re: Product Recommendations?

And to make things even more complicated (thanks to me), if on a budget and as stated above (if paint isn't in a bad state, and from the pics it certainly looks fine but dirty), I would invest in putting in more time, hours or even 2 days, I would clay, use ColorX maybe 2 passes, finish up with Ultimate Wax, Maintain with Ultimate Quik Detailer and Ultimate Quik Wax with ultimate quik wax used after every car wash, and car wash with Gold Class Car wash.

For the wheels and tires, HOt rims all wheel and tire cleaner, apply dressing. Either GOld Class Endurance gel or hotwheels, depending on the look you're after.
