Is Ultra polish an extra step ?

I have a gray 2006 Buick. Spring detail coming up next month.
The Plan :
1. Wash with Deep Chrystal Wash
2. Clay
3. Ultra Polish
4. Klasse AIO
5. Klasse HGSG.

Is the ultra polish step unneccessary ?

Your steps 3 and 4 are a bit redundant, actually, but neither one is a very powerful cleaner. Depending on how bad the defects are, how hard the paint is, and what your goals/desires are, you might want to step up to something like Ultimate Compound for the defect removal phase. After that you can use your step 5 or whatever LSP you like. If the defects are very mild though, then UP will most likely give you more gloss than AIO will, but using both will either duplicate efforts or, worse, using AIO after UP will negate a large positive attribute of UP, namely the additional gloss it can provide.

Thanks Murr. My son can use the Ultra polish with Gold Class on his 2003 Honda civic, Black .

Thanks Mike for your input. That gives me more to think about. The paint looks good with a few swirls. I will try a test spot to see how they go. Leaning toward Ultra polish with HGSG on top.

There might be some bonding issues putting Klassse High Gloss Sealant Glaze over ultimate polish. I would prefer using Klasse All-in-One, since Klasse is a 2 part system. I would use either ultimate compound for worse paint condition or swirlx for not so bad paint.
