  • Swirls... Oh My!

    First time I experinced swirls...

Will any of this take it out?

    ColorX
    ScratchX
    DC Pant Cleaner
    DC Polish
    NXT Tech Wax
    Gold Class Wax
    Dual Action Cleaner/Polish

I have a buffer... It's old style Coleman's but it works.

*Don't have alot of money as I'm purchasing my motorcycle next month.

    Hi Kelm,

I would suggest trying the ScratchX with your buffer. ScratchX is primarily forumulated for use by hand as it can become gummy on the surface and then sometimes difficult to remove when it is heated.

Because the style of orbital buffer you have ocillates at a slow speed and usually a larger pad size than the G100 Dual Action Polisher, heat shouldn't be an issue.

Work a small area at a time, like 2-feet square and work it for a while, then wipe off the residue, apply some polish and wax.

Another option is to polish the car out by hand using ScratchX, because you reduce the area you are applying force to when you work by hand, ScratchX can be very effective when worked with passion against the finish.

Here's what using the right product with the right technique can do...

A couple of things, if you want to remove swirls out of any type of paint, then you have to remove a little bit of paint in order to level or flatten out the surface as best you can.

If you want to do this by hand, then you need to use a product like ScratchX See the below link,

    Before

After ScratchX, Deep Crystal Polish and one application of NXT Tech Wax Paste

Then how effective you will be will be determined by how hard the paint is because these type of polishers are not very effective at removing small particles of paint. In fact, you with your hand pushing a foam applicator with some ScratchX against the finish will be more effective in almost every case.

The rest of that single example can be seen in this thread,

      Hi Kelm

This car had similar swirls to yours:

I removed the majority by hand (after claying) using Scratch X, followed by Show Car Glaze Polish and 2 coats of NXT.

This is what I ended up with, took a while and still not perfect but a lot better.

      Best of luck

      Rob
