  • Using Ultimate Wash and Wax Anywhere to Maintain

I just got a new 2013 Ruby Red C-Max and used Meguiar's New Car Kit on it, which did not have Clay or Polish in it. First time I have ever detailed a car myself.

My busy lifestyle I can't always dedicate time for a full detail (also it's way too hot in Phoenix). My plan is to use UW&WA to maintain the car until I can do the entire 5 step system about every 6 months. Is this a good idea?

I also used the Paint restoration kit on my 1998 Ford Explorer. Didn't use the compound too much, since I couldn't see what I was doing on the white paint. The wax was hard as well because it disappeared as soon as I put it on. My garage is too dark, and outside it's too bright on the white paint, lol.

    Thanks

Anything you can do will be better than nothing. Maybe if you can follow them up once in a while with a spray wax to get a little more wax than just the UW&WA has.

For a quick detail, I always like:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay if needed
    3. cleaner/wax - Such as ColorX, White Wax, Black Wax
    4. Wax - Ult. Wax

May help you do it once or twice more a year.

As far as the white, that is part of where to two coats of wax comes in. If you generally apply everywhere, you probably wont miss the exact same spot twice.

That's what I was trying to figure out in this thread: http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums...us-UQD-and-UQW

Well worse case scenario would be the 5 steps twice a year, my goal is definitely more often. I'm not going to do a full wash in a 115 degrees either, it's just not going to happen. So I need to get through the summer.

I was hoping that using the UW&WA at least weekly, would do a good job of cleaning/protecting, but maybe do that and follow up with Ultimate Quick Wax?

Doing the 5 step is there ever a need to use ColorX? And if so, which step would it be at.

The details would compare more like this:

          1. Wash
          2. Clay if needed
          3. Clean/Polish - Ult. Polish for regular mild details.
          4. Wax
          5. Wax

          1. Wash
          2. Clay if needed
          3. ColorX, etc
          4. Wax

So saving a step, and pretty easy to apply quickly.

ColorX is a cleaner/wax, so combines a mild cleaner, some polishing oils, and wax. It wont be as much polishing oils as a pure polish, or the Ult. Polish, or as good of a wax as the Ult. Wax, etc...but saves time, so a bit of a trade off. But the results are pretty good for the trade off.

As far as fitting in, the fact that it combines all the steps kind of makes it repetitive in a full detail.
