  • Washing New Paint with Meguiar's Gold Class

Hello again, everyone. I had my bumper re-painted just 2 days ago. The body shop did a really shoddy job at washing the car, so I washed it again with Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner. I know that I am not supposed to wax the car for 30 days, but I was wondering if Meguiar's Gold Class puts some kind of "seal" on the car. It really seems like it to me, since water sheets off the bumper after I cleaned with Meguiar's Gold Class Wash, even though I have not put any kind of wax/sealant/glaze/anything, really, I just washed the car after I got it from the body shop. I am now worried that Meguiar's Gold Class Wash has put a layer of something on the paint that will prevent it from outgassing. Thanks in advance for any responses.

Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner is safe and OK to use on your fresh painted car. Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner contains conditioning properties in the soap to nourish the paint and provide a magnificent high gloss, but it does not contain an actual wax. In fact out of all of Meguiar's car wash soaps, the only one that is not recommended for use on fresh paint is our Ultimate Wash & Wax, as it contains an actual wax in the soap.

Good question and you've already received your answer, my reply to that partial statement for the water sheets right off is because that's how great Meguiar's products are. But good to check to make sure you're not doing something incorrect to your new paint. Now all you've gotta do is load up your garage with Meguiar's detailing line of products and accessories, learn the right techniques, apply them properly and you'll keep that new paint looking new for a long time.
