  • Meqs Show car Glaze #7

    Hi All,
purchased abottle of # 7 the other day, only to put over some fresh paint.

At present car is good, washing with UW&W,when I do decide to put an APC over her and polish/ wax again, could I use the #7 or just stick to the UP I have,my arsenal of products has grown for various reasons, each one has it purpose, like,UC,Menzera FG500,PF2500,SF4000.
Or should I use polish as such with no abrasives.

About the only thing I am sure of is the NXT 2.0 wax I have, polish will be put on with RO polisher.

    Thank you.

No wax on newly repainted surfaces, whether spray or wash and wax. Just a regular (non wax) car wash, quick detailer (maroon bottle or last touch) then #7. Paint at this point should be allowed to outgas.

Sorry about that I should have been a bit more specific.

The #7 went on a newly painted boot spoiler and no wax as I am aware of that to allow paint to gas.

I used the #7 on the spoiler as I am led to believe it is ok to use on fresh paint as long as I do not wax, good point about the wash and wax,did not think of that.

Spoiler is not a problem as that is being resprayed again due to variation in colour of spoiler to car.So when I do wash the car again I will not use the UW&W.

What I should have asked was that, when I do use APC at a much later date to strip the paint of wax and polish, should I continue with either the UP or use the #7,then do wax, this will much later down the track or should I just purchase a polish which contain no abrasives,as I think UP has some mild abrasive in it and I was not real keen on the #7 when I used it.

Really no need to worry about using the APC.

Giving a good wash with a regular soap, then using something like Clay and the UP will remove any wax and contaminates, and do it in a more gnetle manner. One of the biggest things with car wash soap is the lubrication it poriveds, to cut down on the chance of swirls.

#7 can be a little tricky to get the hang of, but with UP having some cleaning ability and lots of oils, it does a bit more for you in one step as well then.

            Thanks Murr,
I do like using the UP and the NXT wax 2.0 to finish off with.Putting the UP on with orbital polisher would be ok again? Not doing it anytime soon as I have just done it.

Yeah, UP can be used on an orital/DA polisher.

Re: Meqs Show car Glaze #7

What you will "need" to do when the time comes is totally dependent on the condition of the paint and your goals. If you are able to keep the paint totally swirl free between now and that first time you do intend to wax, then #7 may be all you need prior to waxing. But if you have managed to inflict some level of swirls and want them gone, #7 won't do that as it contains no abrasives. Ultimate Polish applied via a DA/orbital buffer will remove light swirls, provided the paint isn't terribly hard - UP is a very mild cleaner polish. You may even need to step up to something a bit more aggressive first, like Ultimate Compound, but only time will tell.

What's important is that you understand what each of the products does, what they're capable of, and then choose the one that best fits the situation at hand.
