  • How to remove those splast on the molding.

    Hiya guys,

Man, today I detailed this 1991 Civic Si. I use #83 and #80 on my Makita 9227. I got alot splatter over the black molding and its PITA to remove it. And also the temp is in 70's, I gussed it dry up pretty quick with that temperature. So, what's the best way to remove residue on the trim or molding ??

p.s. next time im going tape all the molding

did you try #39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner and a brush? I apply, let dwell, agitate with brush, and remove with a terry towel.

I've heard some use Gold Class Trim Detailer with good results too.

    Good luck!

GC Trim detailer works well in removing splatter. Haven't tried the 39 though.

KLnyc, I experienced the same thing last week when I first tried to use my new Makita 9227 with #80/#83. Not only moldings, even my pants are full of splatter . I think it's best always start to spread the product evenly at low speed, then only increase the speed when the pad is not so saturated. Taping the molding seems to be troublesome and wasteful, however, by following this best practice, you'll save up alot of time and hassle when splatters happen.

              Zey,

Thanks for the reply, see on a flat panel is no problem, but...dam vertical its PITA. Do you guys still spread a bead(8" long) across when you doing vertical panel? or you slap some on the foam pads?. Next week, I'm going tape teh molding and other ****...I knows its going take me atleast 30min to tape all around.
