  • Grit guard at Target

Is the grit guard by Rubbermaid they now sell at Target a decent product? Is the actual grit guard mesh similar? The bucket looks almost like a commercial mop bucket. It is only $9.99, but I was wondering if it was better just to buy the actual Grit Guard.

I've never seen this before. I'm not sure what it looks like or how it works, but what's nice about the Grit Guard is you can remove it to wash out the bucket as dirt build up under it.

I have seen a Black Magic brand version of the Grit Guard... the problem that I saw with this version: there were channels where the dirt could get stuck and NOT fall below the insert. The openings in the grid seemed a little small as well.

Look over the one at target and make sure there is no where for dirt to get stuck above the insert. Thats what I like about the Grit Guard everything falls through the openings.

Yeah, I'll take another look at it. From what I remember, the insert is made up of diamonds with approximately quater inch holes in the center. It kind of looks like a bunch of little cones. I would think this is good because the dirt would fall easily past the insert, but would have limited access coming back up. Also, are you suppose to rub your mit against the insert?

I saw the Rubbermaid at Target, certainly better than no grill but not nearly as nice at the Grit Guard. The Rubbermaid doesn’t hold your stuff anywhere near as high off the bottom.

I'd like to have a look at it. One thing I have noticed though when it comes to companies trying to copy a Meguiars product. That is, if it's not Meguiars, it's not the real deal.
