**Scratch problems**

Hi everyone.


My friend has a 2004 Jaguar XJ6 in light met blue.

Its made of aluminium.


Someone has gone down the side of it with a bag and has made a thin scratch.
Its too thin to touch up with a pen.
You can feel it with your nail.

What the best product to take it down/out??

Bummer. Those Jag saloons are sweet and that blue is a great color for them.

Does the scratch go through the clear and into the base coat? Even if it’s just in the clear it may be so deep that you wouldn’t want to remove it. Taking the paint down far enough to remove a deep scratch might leave too little film thickness. I always start with ScratchX to see if it helps make it look any better.

If ScratchX doesn’t do anything you’d have to either compound it with a machine or even sand it out. But like I said, it may well leave the paint too thin.

I’ve never liked the idea of touch-up pens, not nearly enough control. You might try a very fine artist’s paintbrush. I’ve also used painter’s masking tape to keep the paint contained just in the scratch

The car is very smart.
Full cream leather seats, and loads more.


I used T-cut which took it down enough.
Then i applied 2 coats of GC.


After buffed up it looked good.
