  • #26 over NXT

    Hi,

What does everyone think of #26 over Nxt Tech wax. Will it provide the "wet" look that evryone desires. Does this mean that I would have to replenish the #26 top coat with #26 od start all over again with Nxt the #26?

    Thanks

In my experience, I get a better wet look with #16.

If you have #16 or #26 on top of NXT, you don't need to start with NXT again unless #16/#26 are totally gone. If they are, and the layer of NXT is diminishing, then I'd recommend you reapply NXT and then top it.

I have heard that #16 and nxt is a killer combo. But I have also read on the megs UK website that #16 needs to be applied by a pc which I haven't the funds for yet and #26 works fine by hand. Perhaps you guys could quosh this idea and tell me #16 will work fine by hand.

      Thanks

I like #26 over NXT...... on some colors.
I like NXT on it's own..... on some colors.
#16 would probably look great over NXT if you can find any #16.

However, what I would do is try a side by side comparison on two adjacent panels...... one with NXT only, one with NXT/#26.

You may like NXT on it's own....... everybody is different.

Hi there. Welcome to the board.

Last summer I tried topping NXT with #26. It made my dark green Mustang paint look even darker. I got the most compliments about my car after using NXT and #26. Only problem was I waxed that joker about every month. I didn't leave it alone long enough to see how long it could last.

You could just top with #26 more frequently and NXT as you feel it's needed. No real time table.

Mad iX is right as the #16/26 wears off the NXT will be next to go.

          Hope this is helpful

No, Meguiar's #16 can be applied by hand. In fact, that is the easiest way to apply it considering it is a hard paste wax.

As to topping NXT, some do, some do not. I suggest that you divide your hood in half, and apply 2 coats of NXT to one side. On the other side, apply NXT topped with your choice (#16 or #26). Then stand back and see which side your eyes prefer. You need to do this test side by side and at the same time in order to give a more accurate subjective analysis.

Thanks for all the advice guys, really helpful. I suppose I will have to splash out and buy some #26 and #16. I will buy a pc from autopia when funds allow and am glad to hear the both waxes can be used by hand? All I need now is some dry weather. I will let you all know how I get on. Only been detailing with Meg's for about 2 months so I guess I will be asking alot of questions in the near future.

              Thanks again
