  • UQW in Winter

How low the temperature can I apply UQW or Liquid UW?

I plan to go to a local touchless car wash then rush back to apply UQW to the car. Outside temperature is -5c and my garage is not heated.

I have applied UQW in my garage which is not heated. Outside temps around 5 F, garage around 35 F, no issues

      Is this garage underground?
If the garage is not heated, shouldn't the outside temp and garage temp be similar?

The garage is attached to my house.

Ok, thanks. My garage is attached to the house as well, so the temperature should be higher than outside temperature.

I just went to the car wash but it's getting late and the temperature has now dropped to -8c (17f). This touchless car wash is decent and the car looks very clean. I will apply the UQW tomorrow afternoon. It is supposed to be -5c tomorrow.

I am actually tempted to apply wax but it is probably too risky.

            Re: UQW in Winter

I have used the following waxes in the mid 30 degree range:

            Megs Cleaner Wax
            ColorX
            NXT 2.0
            ULW
            UPW

Only the UPW was a little odd. The portion in the tin was grainy. I think their liquid waxes work better when cold.

Maybe I should buy a portable heater for waxing in the garage!

That's what I do in the winter.

Re: UQW in Winter -anywhere you would not use this ? well below Zero up here

I'm an amateur I have been using this product since it came out on a pearl black escape -with OK results.Yesterday I dabbled on my new white Edge and the results where actually amazing - so I got a little giddy and started experimenting on a bit here and a bit there -so my question is is there anywhere you would not use this (Chrome clad aluminum?)because it seems to clean every thing very well but i was concerned for the long term (4 years tops).

I had success with UWWA but not crazy about using too much as it's pricey.
I plan on using Optimum's No Rinse wash & wax as a spray detailer....much cheaper than UWWA.

I hope Meguiar's will come out with a similar product for 2014...hint hint

It even works great on matte and satin finishes. As for "safe everywhere", my dog would probably not like it if I washed him with it, but your car, truck, boat, motorcycle, snowmobile, tractor or go-kart will love it.
