  • M16 or M26

    Hi guys,

I just started to think about testing a new Meguiar's product for my spring time detailing.

    It's about this silver paint:

So far I work as follows:

    - washing the car (two bucket, wash mitt, Soft Wash Gel)
    - didn't done that - but after the advice in this forum - I'll clay it
    - Ultimate Compound by hand
    - Ultimate Polish by hand
    - Ultimate Liquid Wax by hand (2 times)

This is what I do twice a year - in between I wash by hand with Soft Wash Gel or use the Ultimate Quick Detailer or the Ultimate Wash and Wax Anywhere - depending how the paint feels I use moreover Ultimate Quick Wax.

Now I would like to test M16 or M26 replacing Ultimate Liquid Wax.

    Which one would you choose?

What is the better solution to combine with UQD; UWAWA; UQW?
Is the combination of Carnauba, Polymers and Silicones in M26 producing a deeper shine than Ultimate Liquid Wax?
Is M16 also working well with UQD and UQW?
    Which one lasts longer?

    Thanks!

X2. I use M16 when I want a durable "real" wax job. On the night before a show or cruise, I'll do a quick pass with M26. It's as quick and easy to use as a spray wax and definitely amps up the gloss, but the longevity just isn't there. Bill

Though I haven't tried it, I've seen quite a few posts that claim #26 on top of either of Megs synthetic waxes gives you the wettest look of all.

use what looks good to your eye.
and putting two coats is just a waste of time, product & money.
You will leave a micro thin layer of wax on your car. When you apply another coat your not going to add another coat on top of the original coat. You will actually remove some of the first coat and in most cases leave less wax due to the solvents in the wax.
          But do what you want.

For that color, I would stick with the Ultimate Liquid Wax, it will give the brightest shine to your silver paint. (plus UQD and UQW work well with it, all having the same Hydrophopic properties)

RPPM has a valid point. Personally, I prefer the softer glow of a wax-based product, but my fleet is two red cars, a dark grey and a white one. A lot of folks with silver paint like the look of a sealant. Time for some test panels!

                Thanks!
O.K. what you say is really interesting ... if I understand aright ULW and M26 produce nearly the same shine, but the durability of #16 is the highest - I think this ain't no problem, because I use UQW,UQD and UWAWA regularly. I'd like to test the #26 on the ULW.
Please Wash Me Detailing - will the #26 also remove the ULW - I ever thought that 2 times of thin wax will just produce a constant wax coat without parts that did not get enough wax ... will UQW (or UQD) also remove the ULW ??? Thought that both products refresh the wax coat a bit ...
