Hello all! I have been looking around for a DA polisher but I seem to be stuck on which one to buy. I have been looking really hard at the Meguiars and the Griot's 6 inch. I was under the impression that I could put a 3 inch backing plate on either one for the tight areas but then I was on the griots website and they actually sell a 3 inch polisher. So I guess my question to all you fine people out there can I switch backing plates and make my 6 inch polishers 3 inch polisher with the right backing plates, pads, etc. I really don't want to ask the age-old question of "What is the best dual-action polisher?" If not these two then which one should I buy? Probably use it to really learn how to detail on my personal vehicles and probably some family vehicles with possibly taking on some business in the far future. Really love everyones input and as I have said in my past posts sorry for the repeated questions?

Re: Best DA polisher
It's cheaper to buy a 3" backing plate than to buy a 3" stand alone polisher from GG. There are various 3" backing plates available. One from Meguiar's (S3BP) and one from Lake Country.
I have both the G110v2 and the GG6 and I actually prefer the G110v2. The build quality is definitely better and the features are great. The soft start and the cruise control feature make this a very potent machine. Don't let the wattage numbers fool you. Even if the G110v2's power numbers are lower than the GG6, it can still keep up with defect removal especially with the cruise control. My only problem with the G110v2 is the warranty. If it has the same lifetime warranty as the GG6 then it'll be a no brainer.2011 Car Crazy Showcase SEMA Team

Re: Best DA polisher
I have both the 6" Griot's Garage DA buffer and the 3" GG buffer. I find it is much more convenient having both rather than having to change the backing plates. If you find a place where the 6" machine won't fit, the 3"is readily available. Here is a picture of the shine I have achieved.

Re: Best DA polisher
I've got a GG polisher and use the smaller pads all the time. My favorite wax applicators are the Meguiars 4" black pads, designed for a 3" backing plate. When I'm using a paste wax, such as Collinite 476 or Meguiars M16, they fit right into the can, eliminating the need to spread the wax with a butter knife or credit card.

Re: Best DA polisher
Welcome to MOL!
I purchased the Meg's G110v2 DA and it has plenty of power for use with Meg's, LC and Buff & Shine (B&S) pads. I use both the Meg's backing plate that comes with the G110v2 and a 3.5" plate from Auto Detailing Solutions (ADS) for use with 4" B&S pads.
As mentioned above, the G110v2 is a great machine. Although, it has a one year warranty. Not sure which route I will go when it's time to replace my DA.
