  • swirlX or Ultimate compound???

Hello i have a new 2012 chevrolet cruze LT. Its blue topaz metallic in color. The paint is good condition obviously, but it appears to have "wash marks" and possibly light swirls( what i think is swirls) in the paint. Would i want to use swirlx or ultimate compound for this task? Ultimate compound seems to agressive for something this light on the paint and since its new. Its not neglected or badly treated, so what do you think??

Are you working by hand or electric buffer of some sort?

Working by hand, I would say that SwirlX or Ult. Polish are not likely to do much.

The nice with with these product, and the Ult. Compound, is that you can vary how strong they are by how you apply them.

If you use the UC, and just apply is gently, it will just be a gentle cleaner. If you apply it with a lot of passion, it will become stronger and be removing more paint, defect, etc.

I would be using the DA polisher i got from meguiars. I m not sure if i want to use somthing thats really agressive like the UC because my paint isnt in that type of category for using that. Its mainly got light wash marks/scratches in the clear/paint. They seem to be really light so i would imagine that swirlx would be just fine, but thats why im posting this thread lol =]

Working by machine will let you get a bit more cleaning ability out of the SwirlX, so that could be a good place to start.

okay ill try that first =]. No need to use something so abrassive on such delicate paint when i dont really need to take much paint off to get defects out, dont you think?

I'm not sure delicate is the right word. A stone will damage all paint about the same....

Easy or hard to work on may be the better way of saying it when it comes to removing defects.
