  • Can I use M205 with G100 on a new car for Minor swirls/marring in a spot?

Just wanted to get some advice.... We just bought a '13 Honda CR-V in Pearl White. Our dealer got the car from another dealer and while taking the dealer sticker off the back of the vehicle they caused some swirls/marring.Most of this was from bearing down on the finish by them with a solution to remove the left behind adhesive. I was wondering if I could hit that small area with my G100 and some M205 with a yellow pad? I know normally this would be fine but since the car is new (manufactured in Oct'12) I wanted to make sure that it wasnt too soon for this method because if the finish is still soft I dont want to do any clear coat damage. I tried using the M205 by hand but didnt end up removing everything.

    Thanks in Advance!

Factory paint is baked on, so already cured and whatnot. You can do any detailing right away.

As Mat mentioned, not only is this paint fully cured so using M205 right now is totally safe, you could even step up to a more aggressive liquid if M205 is too gentle to correct the current issues. Remember, M205 is a finishing polish so it's not the most potent product for defect removal. Of course there are a lot of variable, mainly the paint itself, but if you can't remove the defects with M205, don't be afraid to step up to Ultimate Compound.

By ultimate compound are you talking about M105 or another product? Like I said above I will be using my G100 and a yellow pad but at the same time I don't want to overdo it since its such a small area and thin the clear too much.

Ultimate Compound is our consumer version of M105, but it's not quite as potent, nor will it create as much dust. For DA use, even on a brand new car with only light swirls, it's fantastic stuff. You can pick it up locally at most auto parts stores and even Walmart, and it's our go to product for our Saturday Detailing 101 Classes simply because it works so well.

Thanks I will give the Ultimate Compound a try! What setting should I use the UC with my G100 and am I correct in saying I will follow the UC with the M205 for the best results.

You may or may not notice a difference with #205 after, esp being new and white paint... but can slap some on quickly either way.

The speed would be around 5 usually for defect removal.

Thanks to everyone on this thread! I went and bought some UC and all I can say is wow. I used it by hand since it was such a small area. I went over area about three times as far as Applying with moderate pressure and wiping. I wouldn't think by hand that this would thin the clear too much.
Did an outstanding job ! I followed with some M205 for giggles but the finish was so awesome I really didn't have to. I found some other small areas that needed addressing of what looked like a few "rust dots" on the bumper. UC took them right off. This product is not only great for old neglected cars but brand new ones as well!
