  • Contamination bonding period

New BC/CC paint about 60 or so days inside the 90 days. The job is definitely old than 90 days but the touch up is not.

While Im waiting out this period Im washing with Gold Class when i can get to it, but the indoor dust settles on the piant.

How long does it take for contamination to bond, is it ok to clay at this stage?

Any know the paint hardness of a Dupont's "Nason" respray?

    Thanks for your help.

If the paint is dry, just loose dust in the air in a garage shouldnt be a big deal.

The grimy/oily dirt from the highways, brake dust, tar, sap, bird droppings, bugs, etc is the stuff that is more likely to bond.

Thanks for the reply Murr1525. I've got a long road to go. I tried out the Smooth Surface Clay with the Quick Detailer, It seems to work very well on the two panels I did today. But after washing I can see rotary buffer "tracks". I believe these are called holograms. As soon as I can feel safe about the paint I got to select a hand applied product to remove these. Definitely a process. Im a long way from wax.

That SSC will put a smile on your face.

Dont need to wait the 90 days, etc for doing cleaning/polishing steps. And esp if the paint is softer when new if you are only working by hand.
