  • Ultimate "Wash & Wax" washed the Wax from my Car

I purchased a new Jetta 2013, but the Shine was very discreet, but after I've applied the Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax, the Shine has changed dramatically, and also the touch of the paint gives a smooth feel, and water and dust slide easily.

But 4 days after, I've washed my car with the Ultimate Wash & Wax, but the "Smooth Feel" disappeared.

    Is this normal?

Did you do any preparation steps before applying the Deep Crystal Carnauba? It's a very good wax, gives good shine though not the most durable in the Megs line up and is on the lower end of the price scale. Still, 4 days is too short even for DC Carnuaba.

Another question (though no one's saying you did a poor wash job) is the washing technique. Even if with a wax infused car wash, poor technique can remove or dramatically shorten the slick feel and protection of any wax. And car washing even with good car shampoo while good for the paint, still means there's still some friction between the mitt and the paint, and can still diminish protection.

You can try refreshing that feel with a quick detailer even after the Ultimate Wash and Wax.

Apart from what ffboy mentioned, did you follow the correct dilution ratio for the shampoo? A shampoo solution that's too strong will negatively affect any wax.

I have to 100% agree with the OP.
I bought this stuff (UWW) at target this past weekend. Washed the car sunday using a very minimal amount in a bucket. My whole car feels like **** now. And it was butter smooth before. I had a small bird poo on the roof and sprayed QD on it, the microfiber towel felt like sand paper when wiping. This stuff is being put at the far far far back on my car wash soap section. I hope I can return the paint feeling back this weekend without the use of a DA on the whole car. I wasn;t going to post anything but when i saw this i had to agree 100%.

Just to follow up. I am not sure the wax was removed from the car in my case. But the paint felt horrible there was no slickness to it at all, and it almost had a matted sheen to it instead of a deep glossy look. This weekend I made an attempt to fix it. I found the wax was still fine because when i sprayed the car it beaded perfectly. I went back to Gold Class soap this time. After washing I applied a light amount of M205, followed by Autoglym HD wax. Slickness is definitely back to the car as is the deep shine I had before.

Well, it certainly is not like a wash and a spray wax.

However, not sure what is meant by 'minimal amount' of soap? Probably should at least try the recommended amount to see if any difference?

Thanks for the comments, however this is what I did. My usage of 'minimal amount' was more to say the recommended amount rather than the high amount of soap I have seen often used by other DIY home enthusiast detailers. Not sure why the product gave the car that feel. That is why i made the last post, it was more to say what i thought happened didn;t happen. Therefore I think I will just give megs customer service a ring and see what they can inform me of.

I cant say I have used it on a car that is freshly detailed to really compare.

I tend to use it more on a rainy day for a quick wash, or on other peoples cars, etc. But it seemed to turn out nice in those cases at least. But that would be starting in the other direction.

Could the UWW be leaving some amount of unbuffed "raw" wax on the existing finish?

I'll just add quickly that I used it on 4 cars, two clear coat where it looked pretty good, and two single stage one white and one black with not much sign of shine, but both have rough paint.

Some will be left behind..... but can only do so much.
