  • Combining 2 products into one step

Would combining a cleaner wax or an AIO with something like 476s or 845 on the pad and applying at the same time be a good idea? Most AIO don't have long lasting protection so would adding 2 dime size dots of 845 or 476 on the pad and applying in one shot work well or would they negatively effect each other?

It would save time and energy combining 2 products into one step. The two combos that I have found produced nice results are:

Megs Cleaner Wax with Collonite 476s: great shine and gloss and the addtion of Collonite extends the protection of Megs

Megs D151 with DG 501: nice cut and paint cleaning ability, DG 501 extends the protection of D151.

I find that these two combos work very well and produce great results for one steps. I have tried the Megs Cleaner Wax and 476s on my personal cars and the combo really made the metal flake pop and darkened the paint, while also giving it a nice shine and gloss. The protection lasted about 5 months in NYC conditions.

I personally don't mix two products because I feel that the new combo will be somewhere in the middle of their performance/ durability.

If you leave D151 PRC on paint surface for about 20-30 minutes and then wipe it off it extends its durability.

Using D300 and M105 together with DA MF Correction System seems to be still a very popular combo. Soon M105 may be replaced in favor of M101 as the Foam-Cut Compound offers much more cut.

    Just my personal opinion/ feeling.

I have tried the D300 and M105 combo and it works well.

I have plenty of Megs Cleaner Wax and while I love the results it doesn't last so I decided to put a few dabs of 476s and apply at the same time, wait till it dries to a haze and then remove. The 476s def. extended the protection of the cleaner wax.

The combo of DG501 and D151 prodiuced nice cut and paint cleaning abilityand DG 501 extended the protection of D151. DG501 alone will last 6+ months. How much protection do you get out of D151 PRC when left on for 20-30 mins. When I combined these 2 products it was 1 to 1 ratio on a MF cutting disc and the results were sweet. Check it out

Re: Combining 2 products into one step

Whether or not combining any two products is a good idea or not is sort of up to you, really. Obviously there are things that should never be combined, like a dedicated compound and a wax. If someone gets a crazy idea in their head that they want to create their own one step by mixing M105 with Ultimate Wax, they're going to be sorely disappointed. But mixing two compounds, or two cleaner waxes, or a cleaner wax and a regular wax, or any other two products from the same product type should pose no problems. Whether or not the resultant mix yields a really big improvement, or really gives "the best of both worlds" will depend on a lot of factors.

We're all for experimentation, and if you've found something that works for you, on the vehicle you're working on, then that's cool. Just use some common sense when blending two products together and you'll be fine. The odds of any two products really fighting each other is virtually nil - as long as they're both designed to do basically the same thing or be used in essentially the same way.

Thanx Mike, that is what I figured.
