  • What pad and what compound confused

Hi, i have a few light scratches on the body of my vehicle.By the way the scratches are not deep.I bought a new megs g220 polisher ,megs yellow and black pads and the ultimate compound. To no avail the scratches are still their.I was wondering should i purchase the red cutting pad w7006 with the ultimate compound and try this or try ultra cut compound 105 with the pads i already have. OR should i go straight for the da microfibre system I hope someone can shed some light my way.By the way the scratches are not deep.
Look forward to your opinion on this, many thanks

Can you say a bit more about how you were applying the product, using the machine, etc?

UC will allow you to really work on a given area without drying out. I will suggest to use the yellow pad and slow your hand speed down ( movements left, right and up, down ) and allow the product, pressure and tool speed to do it's job. I do not know if this is your issue or not, just saying.

Well, I dont know Volvo pain as much, someone else may help there.

But 3 or 4 small spots may not be enough product. You want to have enough product to be able to spread a thin bit across say a 1 - 1.5 foot square of paint, then slowly work it in. Usually more like a thin bead around the outside edge of the pad is a good amount. And then working slow over the area.

It is good to start least aggressive, which it sounds like you did. However, you still have the scratches and may need to bump up the aggressiveness. You haven't provided any pics so it's kinda hard to suggest which method you should try next. I do know, however, that the DA microfiber system is a safe method used for tough jobs, and has great results even for the basic user.
