  • Removing car wax?

    Hi people!

There are a few scratches on my vehicle that I believe are able to be removed using UC, but I think the layers of wax are protecting the scratches from the UC so I am unable to remove them... Or is the UC removing the wax, but the scratch is too deep for the UC to remove? Its possible my judgement could be wrong for the depth of the scratch.

    TIA

Have you been trying the UC already?

Yes, but the scratch does not seem to be affected by the UC... maybe its just too deep

Yeah, the UC will be able to remove the wax right away.

Were you able to spread some UC over the area, then work it with with some passion? Not just wiping, but working it into the panel?

How are you applying the UC? It's a very common mistake to apply it like a wax when in reality you need to put much more energy into the application than you do with a wax. Wiping it on lightly and letting it sit for a bit won't do much of anything so don't be afraid to get a bit aggressive with it. Just make to you NEVER scrub a tiny area for an extended period of time though - keep your work area to about 1' x 1' even if the scratch is much smaller.

To the OP, how deep are your scratches?
A general rule is if you can feel the scratch by running your nail across the scratch, it is too deep to be removed.

Yea, when I use the UC I go to town on that stuff lol
I apply quite a bit more pressure to really grind that stuff into the scratch... haha hows that for "passion"?

Oh yea i forgot about the running your nail across the scratch test, and Mis3 is correct. It really is just too deep
              haha dam

              Thanks for your help guys!
