  • What next if #80 not strong enough?

I have access to speed glaze here in Australia, but not DACP.

I have both rotary and RO polisher, with foam polishing pads. The number 80 is excellent, but i need something a lot stronger to get rid of some below surface etchings and deeper scratches.

I have tried scratch X by hand, but not strong enough.

The main problem is what i have access to here in Australia.

Can someone tell me what would do the trick out of the following available prodects:

(car is 2004 VW Golf, Black paint)

    -Diamond Cut Compound - M85
    -Compound Power Cleaner - M84
    -Medium cut cleaner
    -Fine cut cleaner

    Regards,

    Matt

Go with the M84 Compound Power Cleaner with a foam cutting pad like Meguiar's W-7006 around the 1500 rpm range on your rotary buffer. Afterwards, re-polish the entire car with with either a two step approach, or one step approach depending upon you skill level, goals and time preference.

    Two step
M80 with W-8006 with rotary to remove any swirls or haze left by the M84/W-7006 combination followed by M80/W-8006 with your Random Orbital polisher.

    One Step
M80/W-8006 with your Random Orbital polisher. Take your time, work each panel very thoroughly.

Either way, after the last polishing step, apply two coats of your favorite wax and you should be good to go.

      Hey Matt,

      Just to add...

Make sure you really work the #84 before removing. Work it until it is a light residue/dust, then remove with a dedicated MF towel. Then go around the entire vehicle with a QD like #34 Final Inspection and get any of the #84 residue out of the cracks etc. This is an important step! If you do not do this, there is a potential for your polishing pad in the next step to pick up the residue and re-introduce some marring into the finish.

      Cheers!
