  • Got the products, now what order to apply???

Well, I will start by saying that I have a solid white stingray corvette with a metal flake in the clear coat. I recently noticed some "debris" or overspray on the car as it felt very VERY rough to the touch in some areas and smooth like glass in others. My friend informed me of Meguiars Clay Bar kit and how to do it. I bought the kit and holy ****! The car is like glass again and removed a ton of black debris. The car is always garage kept and cleaned weekly, so I'm not sure where this junk came from? Nontheless, I'm ready to finish her up and have a few products on hand...just not sure what order to apply. I have the Meguiars Scatch X, the NXT Wax and Meguiars Show Glaze. Not to mention, I have the wax that came with the clay bar kit(came with two clay bars in a box, the lubrication spray a small bottle of wax(not sure what it was called) and a microfiber towel. At this point, I'm looking for the best shine...I'm guessing the glaze and then the NXT? Thanks for all the help!

I think you will want to at least pick up some Ult. Polish, so you get a cleaning step in there. #7 would be optional after, up to you. Then wax.

ScratchX could be used for the cleaning step... but not the usual thing to do.

You'll have to see which wax you got in the clay kit, there was a changeover at some point I think.

    So something like:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. Clean/Polish - Ult. Polish
    4. Pure Polish - Optional - #7
    5. Wax - Ult. Wax or Nxt 2.0 are popular on white, but whatever your favorite may be.
    6. Wax - 2 thin coats are best.

    7. Maintain - Different options here of course, but Ult. Quick Wax after a weekly wash is nice.

It is not a big challenge to detail a white car. My car is silver and I do the full detailing job (Wash - Clay - Polish - Wax -Wax) only once or twice per year. However, I do wash and wax often all through the year.

To the OP, since it seems that this is the first time you detail this car, you should certainly do the full routine as Murr suggested.

Do you need to clay whenever you wax?

Well, never need to do anything...

But claying is just something that is done when the surface feels rough and needs clayed.

If you havent done it before, it is a good idea... then you will get a better feel for when it is needed again in the future. Or some people will do it 2 or 3 times a year either way.
