  • Stepping up to a G100.. maybe..

    Ok guys.

I have used many products, mostly Meguiars mind you, but everything to date has been done by hand. I have used several products and they've done well.. but not good enough.

I am thinking of stepping up to the G100. I am worried that I might screw something up. So.. after I purchase the tool, what products do I need? I want the whole enchalada., Cleaners, poilshes, waxes. I do prefer the NXT line, but if there is something else I should consider using please say!

I have a 2001 Lincoln LS, dark metallic blue with slight swirls/scratches. And I like to keep her clean, especially in the spring thru fall months.

Winter? Too cold here! I might spray it off with a hose and give it a quick wash. But since I now have a small garage to pull into, that might change things.

Looking forward for some suggestions from you other car buffers.. er, buffs.

You are on the right track! The g100 (aka PC) is a great tool I have had mine 4 years now and would not give it up for anything! It not only makes the job easier and faster but provides better results. You can also remove wax with Meguiars Ultimate Bonnet and a PC IMO this gives you a little more "pop", well worth the money.

There are tons of combos you can come up with for products.... What do you have now? You may be able to use what you have.

As for what I have right now.. well, not much! I am getting low on just about all my cleaning products, so I figured now would be a great time to make the investment of the G100 and some new product. I've been spending my few precious minutes of 'down-time' to goof on the internet by reading the G100 section on these forums.

I have some NXT Tech Wax and some Quik Cleaner left.

I guess I would need a rundown on..

      Soap
      Cleaner
      Polish
      Wax/Sealer

As well as any other paint-care items I might need.

      I appreciate the time.

Soap - Any good soap.. I like NXt for cleaning ability, though Gold class may leave a little slicker surface.

Clay - The Quick CLay will work fine.

Cleaner/Polish - WIth a PC, the popular products are #83 and #80. They are actualy cleaner/polishes, so there is no need for separate cleaning and polishing steps. #83 is a bit more aggressive, and #80 a bit milder. For the best results, use #80 for mild work, or if you need more power, do #83, then #80 if you want.

Wax - Nxt can work ok, but #21 is a lot like Nxt, only it is formulated for use with machines.
