  • Fresh CC paint with Polish recommendation?

The wifes 2011 Ford Fusion was in an accident a few weeks ago and received $8300 worth of damage. No one was injured. I haven't been feeling well (ear infection) for the past week and dropped the wife off yesterday to pick up her car. I had her ask about paint protection and they said to only use polish, no wax for the next 90 days.

ADS still carries Meg's Deep Crystal Car Polish, would this be acceptable? I have a bottle of Ultimate Polish on hand, not sure if it would be the correct product to use because of its cleaning properties.

    Thanks,
    James

Yes, you can use DC Polish or UP to maintain the car.
Another option is not to apply any product at all. Just wash the car with a quality shampoo for the next 3 months.

Wow. Sounds like you had some bad luck lately. I am glad no one was hurt. Yes you can use the DC polish. Don't use a car wash soap with any WAX properties as the paint needs to outgas or breathe for the 90 days. M80 would be another option. Antibiotics work well for ear infections.

Ult Polish or DC Polish would be fine.. not much protection from them of course...

Glad everyone made it through safely. Are there swirls in the paint? If the body shop left you with a proper finish, I don't see the need to apply a polish during the cure time.

First and most importantly, good that everyone's Ok after the accident. $8300? OUCH... If the paint has been buffed properly, you can keep it looking good (we want to glaze or polish as a substitiute to waxing), DC Polish, M07 or M80 will do nicely. For quick detailing, the original megs quik detailer or Last Touch will work wonderfully. UQD jas protective polymers that MAY hinder the outgassing process.

Thanks for the replies. Feeling better this afternoon. And yes, I am on day 7 of the antibiotics, 3 more to go. There are zero swirl marks on the left fender, bumper cover or hood. The rain and contaminants in my area is really hard on paint, there are two airports and one Air Force base within a 20 mile radius. We are in the rainy winter season now and just don't want that new, almost perfect paint to be messed up with contaminants and water spots.

Gold Class or M62? What about a mitt for washing and towel for drying? I have (2) MF towels and (2) Water Magnest I use specifically for drying.

#80 would have the most protection possible for a polish if you can get a small bottle, and then I guess use it somewhat often while the paint is curing.

Both soaps are good, Gold Class may be the most gentle one.

Water Magnets are good while drying... you could dry with a little QD spray if you wanted some more lubrication just to be safe.

I was a painful 3 months when I could not wax the car.
I just washed it as often as I could. I recall that I applied DC-Polish maybe twice after 30 days.
