  • MF cutting disk and GG6

What speed is everyone using with the above combo? I've used 4 and 3.5. I've had nothing but bad luck with these mf cutting disks coming apart on speed 4. Thanks

After how passes/sections are these coming apart? How much of the vehicle did you work on?

I've been doing sections no wider than my shoulders. Cleaning the pad with a brush after 2-3 passes. Only using 2 small drops of d300 after pad thoroughly primed. When I detail my truck I only do 1-2 panels at a time bc anymore would burn me out. So it might take me a week, doing a little every day, to correct my truck. I do this twice a year.

That speed is right with the GG6. What kind of brush are you using? And when you say the pads are coming apart, how do you mean?

Meg's reconditioning brush. The Velcro separating from the foam. I used a brand new one yest and only did 2 panels as explained above. I washed the pad in the washing machine on a light cycle with only apc. I then air dryed them mf side down. I noticed today that the Velcro is separating from the outside instead of the middle like the 2 others I've used that have failed. I have no probs with the waxing mf pad on speed 2.5-3.
I love the system and get great results but at the cost of 1-2 cutting pads per attempt!

You have the right Backing pad im assuming? Also what I have noticed with these pads is that compressed air is going to be your best bet when cleaning them.

What type of downward pressure are you using when doing you section.

Yea 67da backing plate. That's what I wonder if I'm putting too much pressure. I never put so much pressure that the pad stops spinning. But with the gg6 at speed 4, I feel you really got to apply some pressure to make it stop spinning. Also I don't have access to compressed air

Just wondering if anyone else having probs with the gg6 at speed 4??
