So I have a few of these plastic parts on my car which have a chrome like finish...which I have absolutely no idea how they do that...anyways, my car is 20 years old now, and these pieces have scratches, and little tiny bumps on them...and discolored dots, and such, and I was wondering if there's some way to remove all of these. to make it look like new again? I know better than to put Scratch X to get rid of scratches, I tryed that on one of my interior vents, and that took the chrome right off ...oops...lol. I also have some interior pieces, like my vent, where the chrome...whatever it is...has worn off completely over time...to reveal the yellow plastic underneath, and would like to know if there's some way I can put it back. Is it some sort of special paint or somthing I could buy? I'd love to know. Any tips about this chrome plastic stuff would be great! Thanks.

As you have discovered, 'plastic chrome' is ridiculously thin. I've used cleaner/wax (A-12, the marron bottle/can) with good results. You just don't want to get too aggressive with anything, there just isn't that much to work with.
Once that chrome coating gone, well, it's gone. I personally have never found or seen any paint that will make it look good again.
Thanks. I actually found some places online which restore these pieces, good as new, so I'll probably have to do that. since I want absolutely flawless pieces.

^^^^ realy?
chrome is chrome, no matter what it's put on.
in my experiance you can't remove scratches from chrome. All you can do is shine it
Chrome isn't paint.
When you get what every your getting please post about it.
