  • Stain from ultimate liquid wax

So I recently purchased a 2013 satin pearl white scion frs, so I thought it would be a good idea and protect my investment and purchase cleaning products and wax. So I went with McGuiars new car cleaning kit. I cleaned and waxed the car at night to make sure I did it during cool temps and in the shade. After a lot of elbow grease i called it a night. Then the next morning I came out to inspect /touch up anything I may have missed and noticed. A yellowish gold stain located on the front bumper close to the wheel well. I tried to clay it off. No luck. I tried applying some detail spray. No luck. So then I walked around and seen the same color stain on the opposite side. This was smaller but same color. I took it to a detailer and he said he has never seen anything like this in his 30 yrs of detailing. It's all smooth to the touch so by no means are they scuffs n the cars only a few months old.

Ill try and get pictures up. Anyyyyyyy help is greatly appreciated. I'm I'm the southern California area if theres any detailers out there that can restore the paint I can pay and drive to you. Thanks!

Could it be tire dressing spun off the wheels?

I wonder if this was there prior to you cleaning. The detailer should have been able to tell if this was above or below the clear. I find it strange that its in the same spot on both sides of the front but no where else on the vehicle. This leads me to believe its under the clear and was there prior to you waxing your car.

I too found it extremely strange that it's both kinda in the same general location. He believed it was stained into the clear. I'm constantly giving my car walk arounds on every trip and wash and I never seen these before until I used the wax.

Ill try and post some pics today

Look forward to your pictures as Ultimate Wax is white and a yellowish, gold does seems odd colored stain. A Detailer with 30 years of experience couldn't tell, so if a new car a trip to the dealer might be in order. Perhaps a defect covered by warranty?

Ultimate liquid wax dries clear. It shouldn't have stained it.

Sounds like the dealer was trying to hide some. You can try meguiars ultimate compound before taking it in

Here are pictures as promised. I will take pictures of the opposite side later today once the sun comes up. The other side it much lighter smaller and higher up

If not the wax I don't know what else it could be. Any local detailers to my area interested in taking a look?

I thought the same thing too, but to prove this wrong I put some of the wax on a paper towel and let it dry over night. Sure enough it that same color as on my car

I think its something under that paint and the clear. Just doesn't seem right that its no where else on your car but there where they could have tried to hide something and didn't do a good job and went thin on a repair.

I just can't see how UW could possibly have caused that..

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Definitely not caused by Ultimate wax. Looks like some stain, almost like dried up honey or amber or some sap. I say try claying the area or clay then scratchx 2.0 and give the ultimate another shot. I've used other waxes that would stain even more than the newer breed of sealants such as NXT 2.0 or carlack 68

Re: Stain from ultimate liquid wax

We can tell you emphatically that this is NOT the wax causing this issue. Just from a logical point of view, why would the wax cause this issue only on these two spots, directly opposite each other on the front of the car? It simply makes no sense at all. If it was the wax you'd have this sort of blotchy staining all over the car.

But look closely at these two marks, and think about how the cars are wrapped from the factory to protect the paint in transport from factory to port to dealer. We've seen the same thing happen with the tape that holds down the wrap at some point in the transport process on other makes/models, and it's not simply adhesive residue still on the paint. That explains why these are smooth to the touch, since you'd obviously be able to feel simple adhesive residue.

We recommend talking to the dealer first - the fact that these two marks are practically mirror images of each other is classic for a wrap issue. At the very least we'd give it a once over with a paint cleaner like ScratchX 2.0 or Ultimate Compound, applied with a foam wax applicator pad and a bit of elbow grease to see if that removes the staining.

The 2 pictures are the same mark just slightly different angles. I never got around to posting the other side. The other side much higher up and more faint. I actually saw my car with all the protective wrap on and have a photo of it with all the wrap still on. There was no wrap on this area. The wrap was only on the hood, roof and trunk.

But I will take your advice and take it to the dealer to see what they say but prior to this Ive had my car for over 2 months with no signs of these marks before
