  • Rain Repellant Help

What else can I use on My windshield to help protect it from waterspots. I have been using RainX ever since the 90's is there anything better.

Any success with Ultimate Liquid wax being put on windshield.

Stick with Rain X and use Ultimate Quik Wax in between applications of rain x.

UQW on the windshield? Would it streak?
I myself find RainX extremely hard to remove.

I like Aquapel better than RainX. However it does cost more.

Just like the paint... wont streak if applied light.

If you find the RainX hard to remove, you should be using a damp/wet towel, then a dry one to remove.

What I do is just mist a towel with water and RainX removes sooooo easily. Like for example, after you wash and dry your car, apply RainX, then a few mins later or whatever use one of the towels you just dried your vehicle with. It removes very easily. And UQW won't streak if used correctly. Just a couple squirts on the windshield is good enough imo.

Aquapel is great stuff, and lasts longer than Rain-X. Enough to make the price difference worth it IMO.

I too like Aquapel better than RainX.
With RainX, I get streaks when it's raining at night. Not with Aquapel. Well worth the price, especially if you buy it on Ebay.

I totally agree. I put some aquapel on my windshield in may and water still rolls right off my windshield when I wash my truck. I haven't put any other wax or more aquapel on since then. It really is good stuff. I thought it was more work to apply it than rain. You're not supposed to let it dry to a haze like rain x so you have to be quick about it and if it does haze up I thought it was a pain to remove. It was my first time using it so I don't know any tricks to remove it if it does haze up, but all in all I'm more than happy with it and will continue using it for a long time.

                    Re: Rain Repellant Help

thanks for all your help... I will stick with the RainX. Aquapell just seems too expensive. If I accidentally don't apply it right then I am out of one applicator stick.

Don't understand why aquapell don't come in bottle like RainX

                      Re: Rain Repellant Help

Been using RainX for years with various levels of easy/difficulty depending on weather/time of day/lunar cycle/etc. Recently changed my method to spray on clean windshield and buff off with (rather coarse, actually) cotton terry towel and not only has it becoming significantly easier it seems the film or whatever left behind looks nicer and beads better as well!

You can use kerosene to remove RainX. But carb cleaner was better. But be carefull not to spill to rubber, plastic and paint of your car.

I am disappointed that every time there is a glass treatment thread no one mentions Accuvision from Super Clean (Castrol). It's about $5 for a spray bottle and you spray on and wipe off. That's it, no buffing or sticks or any other hassles. I apply it about three times a year and it works great for repelling water and even makes snow slide off my windows easier in the winter.

Tragically, it's hard to find sometimes. I only know of one Wal-Mart that I frequent that carries the stuff, although I do see it on Amazon so that is an option.
