Using #40 on the whole interior.

Hello People,

I have purchased the #40 (Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner) for the interior of my 2000 Celica. The directions on the bottle say that it's for use on Vinyl and Rubber surfaces. The thing is, is that there are plastic parts in the interior also, mostly around the CD Deck and HVAC controls.

Is this product safe to use on plastic/dashboards? I have no idea what my dashboard is made out of, but it feels like a soft plastic. I don't know what all dashboards on vehicles are made out of.

#40 is okay to use on those surfaces. I really like the look of Natural Look as well, it doesn't have the same cleaning ability, but it leaves a nice matte finish which is important for the dash. Just remember to buff off the excess product and #40 will work great for you.

Using #40 on the plastic trim pieces is just fine. In fact, you will be gald you did!! Just remember to apply it, leave it for a few minutes and then really wipe it down with a dedicated MF towel. This will create a beautiful satin look!!

I asked similar question to Meguiars before. The label of Natural Shine indicates it is for vinyl and rubber. The answer was that it is OK to use on plastic, too - but it is not recommended for clear plastic such as tail lights, instrument panel, etc. -. I find that I need more wiping with dry towel on plastic than on vinyl and rubber.

It would be better to use Meguiar's PlastX or #10 Clear Plastic Polish when dealing with clear or hard plastics like the instrument cluster or tail-lights etc...
