What is a good way to clean sheepskin seat covers? Mine are part real sheepskin, part acrylic faux sheepskin.

BRUSH BRUSH BRUSH!
Seriously... Vacuum the covers, then grab a stiff nylon bristle brush to vigorously scrub them. This will loosen any dried on dirt and help to seperate the matted fibers, making them plush again. Repeat the vacuuming.
Next, use a dry cleaning solution with a clean non-dyed (white) terry cloth towel. Simply pour the solution on a small terry towel (saturate it) and wipe the covers, turning the towel frequently. Follow up quickly with a second dry towel.
Now... If you don't have (or can't locate) dry cleaning solution, use the old detailer standby- Fast flashing laquer thinner. It's strong enough to clean safely, but evaporates quickly. Once it's completely dry (a few minutes) the thinner smell will disappear.
It's an 'old school' process, but sheepskins are 'old school', too!
BTW... Water based cleaners won't hurt anything (sometimes dyes will release), but you'd better like that 'wet' wool smell...Last edited by Kevin Brown; Apr 10, 2005, 10:16 AM.Kevin Brown
