Mike, I just read your write up on pad cleaning on the fly and it reminded of this thread. Have you had the opportunity to try out that canned air system that you had mentioned that you were getting. I'm still using a brush, but feel like I could do better with compressed air, and trying to figure the best options. If you have any reviews on the CANless air system, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

I bought the Canless Air Systems O2 Hurricane for use with my MF pads. Only requires batteries. Cleans as well as using shop air at work. Expensive at $80 but no compressor, hose, blow gun or generator needed. Perfect for mobile detailers or hobbyist detailing. Bought mine from Newegg.

Being very intrigued by this little device we did a bit of research, contacted the manufacturer, and ultimately bought one with the understanding that they offer a full money back guarantee if not satisfied. Do you you actually use this to fluff up and blow out the microfibers on your MF discs when buffing? We ask because the one we got, the high end, high speed, rechargable unit doesn't even come close to moving the fibers once matted down. It's about as effective as just blowing on it as if you were blowing out a candle. It may move air at a high speed, but the problem is it doesn't move enough air. Simple PSI or velocity isn't enough - you need CFM along with that, and this just doesn't have it. Not even close.

It is, however, great for blowing water out of those tight spaces along trim pieces, headlights, badges, side mirrors etc after washing a car. It's also great for blowing dust out of your computer or between the keys of your keyboard, but for pad cleaning it's simply not in the ballpark.

Thanks Mike, for testing this out. I was about to order one. I am glad i didn;t. It seemed like a too good to be true. Something that puts enough air out comparable to an air compressor that is completely mobile...glad i found out. As for getting water out of tight spaces, I'll just continue to use my lungs to blow it out. And using a pad brush between passes is easy enuogh if you use the right (light) amount of product on the pad.

Not sure how I missed this earlier, but thanks for the feedback Mike, you probably just saved me $80 - although I'm sure I could have eventually found some kind of use for the canned air.

I've done a little more looking and found that I can get a small portable compressor for basically the same price, and it will give me ample pressure for cleaning the pads, and be good for other uses too if needed. I am sticking with the brush for right now, but my next business purchase will definitely be one of these portable air compressors. And I look forward to the improved cleaning ability of the MF pads that it will bring. Thanks again!
