  • Should i use UC?

Hi i got a black 2012 camry and it needs to be wax. But i dont know if i need to use UC or not, it does have minor scratches in the front. Can i only do the front or do you recommend doing the whole car? And i should use UC or UP, which one is better for a new car before waxing

I can only speak from using a dual action polisher. I used ultimate polish on my 2012 and it removed every swirl. I would used ultimate compound on a car that was 8yrs old and has never been waxed.

It really depends on how much swirls you have. Maybe you can show us a pic?

It may look a bit better if you used Ult. Polish as the last step before waxing.

But as noted above, you can spot treat with the UC, then UP everything, or UC everything, then UP everything.

          hi,
i tried taking some pictures but the scratchs are not really showing in the pics. but there are sum only at certain areas but very little, its not really noticeable.
so if i use UP does that removes minor scratches also? actually what does polishing do anyways? thanks

Why not consider using scratchX 2.0 for the scratches especially if they are minor and on small areas only then Ultimate Polish to the entire car, it does have mild cleaners and rich in polishing oils that may just be enough to remove very minor swirls and add more depth before waxing.

              So you're working by hand?

I doubt Ultimate Polish will remove defects for you. I would just grab Ultimate Compound and have at it. Then follow up with Ultimate Polish.

You asked what polishing does, well to me, essentially the polish is just enhancing the glossy look to the paint, and also adding depth and color to the paint. Polishing right before waxing makes the wax most effective too I think.

Like what Mat said, just use Ultimate Compound on the affected areas and the Ultimate Polish on the whole car. This should amp up the gloss of the paint.

Polishing removes a layer of clear coat. This is a very tiny minuscule layer of clear. The amount of clear coat removed varies on several factors such as method of application (hand/DA/Rotary), type of applicator, product, etc. Swirls are removed because these scratches are leveled out.

                  Re: Should i use UC?

Remember...when using the UC, you must work it into the area until it almost disappears/dissolves and then wipe off before it dries. Try this on the area you feel you may need it most, it may take 2 or 3 passes, but you should start to see a difference. Then cover the rest of the area with UP, followed by UW.

I did this with a DA with amazing results! I would keep some ScratchX around for spot treatments for that occasional scratch.

polish is to polish the paint, to get a better reflection. Just wax it if your not to concerned with the minor imperfections.
