  • Ultimate bonnet questions

What are the benefits of using an Ultimate Bonnet with a PC to remove wax? Do you get better results, or just save time? Is one bonnet sufficient to do a car, or would I need several?

    It's kind of personal preference,

For a show car, I think it's the best way to go. My own personal observations are super high gloss finish, never any streaks or smears after you're finished removing wax by machine.

You completely remove your hands from the process and let the machine do al the work for you. Here's the owner of Icon Productions removing NXT Tech Wax with an Ultimate Bonnet off this 1971 Dodge Challenger.

Notice the high gloss in the paint...

Because the bonnets are reversible, you can usually remove the wax from an average size car with one bonnet if you know a little technique for cleaning them as you go, with two bonnets to be on the safe side.

Well when I remove NXt with my PC and UB it seems to leave a deper shine. Yes it is much faster. I was skeptical at first (before I bought one) but once you use it you will be sold. For my truck I use 3 both sides of each (removes 2 coats of wax) and have a fourth for backup.

Yep, the good quality bonnets seem to add just a bit more "POP" if used properly. I have several and just switch to a fresh one as soon as one gets loaded with residue.

It is. Meguiar's was invited to train a group of people how to create a show car quality finish on special interest cars such as this one. We basically taught everyone the same techniques we teach in all our detailing classes which includes hands-on training.

My thoughts exactly. NXT and the UB a great combo.

Advantages of using the Ultimate Bonnets:

                  1. High gloss! Can't beat the results. And like Mike says, no smears!

                  2. Speed. It is at least twice as fast as removal by hand.

                  3. Safe. I found the PC with an Ultimate Bonnet is the combination least likely to scratch or swirl paint. IMHO they are mandatory for black cars and trucks!

Now refresh my memory. The best speed to use on the PC for wax removal is 5.0, right?

The paint on that Challenger is unbelievable! The NXT looks great, plus I want to know who did that paint job!

Having a hydraulic lift in the garage sure would make it easier to buff the lower body panels. If I had one, I could see myself doing that on a weekly basis!

I use the speed 5 to remove wax too.
