  • Noobie!

Hey fellas, just starting out kinda & had a few questions.

I went to buy a set of MF towels & they had some debree on them, i noticed stuff like this sometimes doesnt come off them in the wash. This often happens when one falls to the ground:

I guess ill just have to pick it off piece by piece.

Also, is washing it too often bad? As of right now i wash my car twice a week rather than use quick-detailer once a day. Thanks!

    to MOL!

I will try to laundry the MF towels. If the debris doesn't fall off then I would toss them. I wouldn't risk scratching the paint.

Washing too often is not bad. In fact, it's better for your paint because it will limit the amount of contaminants that will bond to your paint.

      Re: Noobie!

Tell us a little about your car and how dirty it gets each week and the kind of dirt.

Now, you've learned a couple of things when you drop your microfibers.
      1) They work well, they pickup dirt and debris.
      2) Don't drop microfibers, they get dirty.
      3) That dirt will scratch your car.

Oh by the way, great photo. Include some of your car, when you have time.

        Re: Noobie!

Sometimes I'll sit on the couch and watch a movie with a stack of microfibers and pair of tweezers. lol

Woodworking and car detailing don't seem to mix well. I keep all my clean microfibers in zip lock bags but sometimes I'll set one down on a bench with wood chips on it while working.

I would return them personally if you still can. That will take forever to remove....

Try wrapping you hand with masking tape (sticky side out) and pat, pat, pat. Ya just might get 'em cleaned up.

                Re: Noobie!

Thanks for the great replies! I actually took this pic at the store... i guess the debris came from sitting in storage.

I live in central Ca, near fresno & the dust in the air is ridiculous... a few short hours after my car is cleaned there is a fine layer of dust on it. I didnt like the amount of product it took to wipe it off daily so i just decided to wash it twice a week. I'm just wondering if all these washes will eventually wear away my clear-coat or something like that

                  Re: Noobie!

I wouldn't worry about washing away the clear. As long as you use a good quality soap and a soft cleaning mitt so you don't add any unwanted scratches you should be fine. It would actually take something abrasive to wear down the clear. Welcome to MOL too btw!!
