  • Grit Gaurd Question

If I only have one grit gaurd, is it best to use it in my rinse bucket? Also, I'm not quite sure I understand the tip of outlining my grit gaurd with a sharpie on the inside of my bucket.
Am i obsessed?? A car is the second biggest financial investment for most people, why not keep it looking better than new?

    Re: Grit Gaurd Question

I only use 1 grit guard and I put it in my rinse bucket. IMO, the grit guard in the soap bucket is for added precaution but I find it unnecessary. If you thoroughly clean your wash mitt in your rinse bucket then your soap bucket should be clean. So if you only have one grit guard, then it's best to put it in the rinse bucket.

What do you mean outline the grit guard in the rinse bucket? I've never heard of that.

      Re: Grit Gaurd Question

I read it in a forum in autogeek.
      Mike,
I have a tip for you (and everyone else).

When the bucket is empty (no water, but all the washing parts), press down on the grit guard and then make a line inside the bucket with a Sharpie marker all the way around using the grit guard as a guide.

This way, when you are filling the bucket up, you know exactly how much water is needed even in the parts aren't in the bucket yet or if you sent a helper to go fill the bucket.

Here are some pics of my bucket, but the line is starting to wear off over time.

        That seems completely unnecessary.
