  • Anybody besides me ever wash and wax a Rental Car???

I flew home (leaving my car back east) and rented a new grey Ford Explorer. Looked OK but it was driving me crazy, so I gave it a quick wash with some Gold Class, a wax with NXT, and dressed the tires. I fell much better now, but is this a good sign or a bad sign I just couldn't stand to look at such a great truck being so neglected.
    Oh well!!!

I definitely laughed when I read this. I must admit, I have done the same. I also took the time to thoroughly polish a press fleet car when I was an automotive journalist as well. They definitely got the car back in better condition than when they gave it to me

I don't think it's silly at all, especially since you're the one who will use it even if it's just a rental car. The car/truck has to be clean, or at least up to your standards. Maybe next time you should ask for a discount or at least charge them for the wash and wax you did and giving you a rental car that's not really in the most presentable shape

I would NEVER wax one or apply any type of protectant...but I did run it through the car wash because it was so filthy. The next person that drives it won't give a darn about it...so why waste your time and product on it?

With as much product we have, sounds good. You can try a new combo to see how it looks.

I would not opti-coat a rental but a nice wax job sounds good.

I was in a rental car for one week and could not believe the condition it was in when it was given to me. If you ask me, the condition of the vehicle should represent the company in which they are rented from. I could not stand driving around in a filthy car. It took me a good hour just to vacuum it out. I dressed the interior, but I was not about to waste my time or products on the exterior.

When I had a courtesy car while my daily driver was in the shop, I was given a 2012 Subaru Legacy, it was washed, near new...but just wasn't detailed like my own cars. I thought about washing it and testing my DA skills I learnt here......lol, my wife thought I was nuts.....so I returned the loaner with it's dealer installed swirls

Like 10 years ago, my moms van broke down or something so we were given a Pontiac Sunfire for a few days from the dealer. I don't really remember the condition too well, I was only 10 or 11 at the time. I am pretty sure I did wash it though although my mom kept saying I was wasting water haha. I was really good at doing that when I was younger.
