Has anyone tried this product for touch-up instead of Scratch Fix 2in1

    Results?

Not sure if this will work for me as I do not have a clear coat.

While this will certainly work, I've never been a big fan of paint pens. You can get a much better looking repair with a small bottle of touch up paint and a micro brush or artist brush. Also easier to build up the repair with 2-3 layers verses the glob most paint pens put out. Again I've had a lot of successful repairs with a pen just not the best approach.

      Re: Paint Pens

I have touch up pens for both of my cars from them and they work great. The color is matched perfect. I was never a fan of the nail polish style bottle. I would recommend the clear coat pen they have available as well.

        1) Is the micro brush you are referring to the brush that comes with the applicator kit.

        2) Is the artist brush better for very very very narrow but deep scratches.

The tip of the pen is very similar to a highlighter. If you turn the tip, you should have no problems filling in your scratches. They work very well, if you ask me. Shipping takes a while due to the fact that they make the pens once your order is placed.

Here's the web address for Eastwood thats shows micro brushes. These can also be purchased from Griot's Garage.

They can be used to push paint into the scratch and then level it out and not have it outside on "the good paint." The brush that comes with the nail polish type tubes will certainly make a bigger mess than the pen. If you don't opt for a different brush go with the pen. Both approaches work and can be sanded or compounded flush but the micro brush approach makes a professional repair quick and easy.

OK for chips - not generaly for scratches. From their FAQ

                    Will it work on scratches?

Our paint system is primarily designed to address chips, but it will work well on certain types of scratches and poorly on others. There are several variables that determine repair quality:
Deep Scratches - Deep, narrow scratches (1/16" or less) down to the metal will usually hold paint. As our paint is instantly malleable (in this case, tacky, yet removable), there is some flexibilty in finessing the paint into place. The various brushes in the kit also allow for more precise painting of scratches that can't effectively be repaired by our standard process.
Wide Scratches - Wide scratches (1/16" or greater), gashes or other large defects will likely need to have the paint applied and left as is. Filling and spraying these types of damage is the only way to get a 'like new' repair.
Light Surface Scratches - Generally these can be buffed out. If you can feel them with your fingernail, they might come out completely with some wet-sanding and buffing. Otherwise, our precision brush can be used to lightly apply the paint over the scratch and left as is.
Key Scratches - We don't recommend buying our kit soley for fixing key scratches unless the vehicle color is dark, and the scratch is short and deep. A long key scratch on a light silver or gold car will show almost no difference, even if the paint completely fills the scratch. However, if you are not inclined to pay for a body shop repair, the special brushes in the kit will help you make the best repair possible.
Vehicle Color - The color of the vehicle also determines the quality of the scratch repair. Darker colors always look better than light ones. A scratch on a black or dark red metallic vehicle will always look better afterward than on a light silver or gold one.
