  • Clay bar over touch up paint

My car previous owner touched up the paint with a small touch-up brush. It resulted in the touch-up paint being higher than the original paint.

I was wondering if this might cause a problem with the clay bar process.

Or maybe the clay bar process might take the touch-up paint to a level equal to the original paint.

You would want to more gently glide the clay over that area.

If anything, it could pull the paint out.

I'm not saying it will for sure.. just more of a chance. And a higher chance the fresher the touch up.

If you wanted to try, then sure, go ahead and really give it some pressure, and see if it moves it or not.

maybe it can be levelled by sanding and then compounding with a rotary buffer, though this shouldnt be attempted without getting an expert's opinion
