  • Super Degreaser and Tires

    Hello folks,

I currently use Super Degreaser as my primary cleaner for wheel wells and engine detailing. I have searched throughout the forums and read that Safe D-Greaser can be used to clean tires. I was wondering if Super Degreaser can also be used. If so, what would the proper dilution rate be? Thanks in advance and I'm sorry for the newb question.

I have used it on my tires at the 10:1 dilution, it does a very nice job of cleaning. My only concern is that overspray will get on the wheels, so do not let it sit on the tire for very long and make sure you completely wash the surface to prevent staining or etching.

      Hey,

I would suggest not using D-108 Super Degreaser for your tires as there is a chance that it may get on the paint and cause staining. A much safer alternative would be to use Meguiar's D- 105 Safe D-Greaser. Even so, you should wet the surrounding area and do not leave the product overspray sit on paint surfaces for extended periods.

Most the time for cleaning tires, I prefer to use Meguiar's D-101 All Purpose Cleaner with a 4:1 dilution ratio. Just spray on, agitate with a brush, and hose off.

      Cheers!

Wheel Brightener is probably the most effective way to go.

Same here! I use the APC 4 to 1 ratio for tires and the engine compartment. Meguiar's EXTRA is also a good product for those chores.

I'm looking forward to trying the new Meguiar's NXT Tire Cleaner too!

I have used SD on the inside of wheels before being very careful to keep it off the rims. It starts to seem that some Meguiar's products cross over. You've got APC, Super Degreaser, Safe Degreaser, Wheel Brightener. To tell you the truth to start saving money I am probably going to go to a 5 gallon of APC and forget the other 3.

At this point I have been using all of them, but APC can be used on interior and exterior with success so why not just have one product?
