Re: First detail of a car other than my own.
The increased clarity and gloss really show in the "after" shots on this car. For someone with little experience doing real correction we don't think 9 hours is a bad time frame. Sure, once you get more comfortable with the process and refine your technique, you can probably cut that time down a bit. But how long it took is less important than the final result. Sure, if you're doing this for a living you'll want to keep in mind that "time is money", but that's not an excuse to rush a job either, especially if it means compromising results. But work flows vary from individual to individual as they find what works best for them. But in this case, a new user who's still sort of learning, we think you did a truly outstanding job!

Although during that nine hours I took about an hour break, it was over 100 degrees in the garage
On my vehicle I would wait 12 hours and apply a second layer of sealant, which adds time to the process. I did not do this on this vehicle because my father in law does not take the proper steps to protect his paint, i.e. going through car washes. Also one layer of Tech 2.0 should last a while considering this car is kept in a garage and is not exposed to the elements.

you could offer to wash his car once a week. Wouldn't take long.

Re: First detail of a car other than my own.
Well I finished my first detail on a car other than my own. The car is a 2012 and I thought that the paint was horrible, turns out it wasn't that bad. There was some minor swirls and a couple deep scratches. The scratches I couldn't correct as they were through to the primer. The project took a total of 9 hours with a one hour break. Here are the photos of today's project.......
I started off with washing the car of course.....
As we can see there was no wax on the car. There was no water beading at all. This made drying the car a bit longer than usual. My father in law said that the dealer never waxed the car, they only washed it.
In this pic you can see some light swirls.....
Here are some more pics. As you can see the paint is not that bad....
After the wash it was time for the next step.......
Here are some pics after the claying process. I had to clay the whole car....
Then I prepped the car for correction....
These are the products I used. I thought about using ultimate wax but I decided to save that for my truck...
Finally after about 9 hours I was finished. I am very happy with the finished product, and so was my father in law. I just hope he doesn't go through a car wash for a while
